I always go #3 first, put the cap on finger tight, then using a soft dead blow you whack the crank snout back, then the crank hub forward. Then torque it in three sets. Then measure crank end play. Then I go numbers 1,2,4, then 5. Turn the crank after each one to make sure it's not binding. Do 5 last as the main seal will add drag.
