So I own a 1971 roadrunner and it hit a guardrail back in 1977 and was parked when It hit the guard rail. it broke the bottom ear off of the steering box and bent the Cupler. Now there is a 1974 b body manual steering box on craigslist could I use that on the 71? I know they changed k members but I was wondering if it would work??

yes it will fit, 1966-1979 B Body cars used the same manual steering box

I seem to remember that they changed the size of the output shaft to use a larger spline in the early 70's...but other than that they interchange...

dunno on manuals but powered got 4 keys output spline shafts ( pitman ) since 73

and I allways have known the angle of K member changed all allong the years, so then the boxes... something like pre-69, then 70, then 71/72, then 73 an lates.

isn't ?

Thanks flyingfarley, I forgot about that, you are correct about the output shaft larger spline starting in 73, other than that they are interchangable. If you use a 73 box and up you will need a different pitman arm.
