I have a 71 Plymouth SSP. I am starting to order parts to redo the bucket seats.

I've looked online and want to verify some information I found in regards to replacement seat foam.

Remove seat back springs!! Please Read
  • 1971 & Early 1972 Models will have Springs in the seat backs
  • You will need to remove them. Please see Last Picture!
  • Chrysler Switched to a deeper seat back foam for 1972-1974
  • Deeper seat back foam uses seat frame as support. No Need For Springs
  • Keep Seat bottom springs on your frames! You will need them
  • These foams are the same for Pleated & Button Style Covers

Can someone confirm please?

Let me also say there are VERY few listing that even include 71 in the description... Most are 72-74...

Thanks for the post, I have been wondering all this time why my '72 SSP bucket seats did not collapse without the seat back springs installed!

Bump and an additional question. 71 and 72 seat covers. Any real difference besides cosmetic? Will they interchange?
