71 spare wheel/tire questions

Are there any particular markings on a 71 B-body spare wheel?

What is the width of a stock spare tire?

The reason I am asking is the spare tire/wheel is too wide to allow the jack base AND green bumper hook to fit onto a standard threaded tie down rod.

Depends on which tire was order on the car. There are 2 different rod lengths for 71.

Had the same issue with my 71 charger. I decided to go with the repro Goodyear G-60 tires and the spare would not fit correctly because the threaded rod is to short. I don't know what the car originally came with, but im guessing an F 70 at best. there are several different rod lengths out there, I think I found mine used on ebay. I think amd is even reproducing them. You can also turn the spare tire over in the trunk, but its not correct

Really MarK? In the same body or was this a Plymouth vs Dodge thing? My 71 runner is all original and came with G70x14 tires on 14x6 wheels...and it has the 10 1/2" long rod with plenty of room. I can't imagine the 15" wheel with G60x15 tires would need much more length. The parts book only lists one for Plymouth B (71)

Well maybe it is 9" and 11" and maybe it is E-body that I'm thinking of.

Yep your right. Only one rod for 71B. E body has a shorter rod for the space saver tire.

The threaded rod in my 71 charger was to short for this G/60/15 setup. I had to find a longer rod that would allow the hook and base to work. this threaded rod measure just over 10 inches. The door sticker says minimum tire size G/70/14, but that doesn't say what the spare was
