72 side marker light question

'72 sidemarkers are ugly fat plastic lenses that protrude from the fender surface. '71 sidemarkers have the lenses installed inside a molded housing that is mounted in a recess in the fender and looks way better. That's why they're more expensive. I also think the '72 sidemarkers are longer and thinner, while the recesses for '71 sidemarkers are shorter and wider. It won't look or fit nice even if you got them installed.

Coelacanth is correct on the opening being too big.

I think the 72 & up side marker lights were used right up to the 80's.
I know my 1976 Volare Road runner had them.

Good point, it's actually worse with Chargers. The '71 Charger recessed sidemarker housing is much smaller than the '72 Charger plastic lens protruberances (and used on many other models for cheaper production, I'd guess).
