I'm restoring/adjusting my steering column and have a lot of play on the lower part below the ignition switch.

Does anybody have an exploded view of a floor shifter column? Am I missing something??

I looked at my 1970 factory service manual & it shows "remove 4 lock housing to column jacket hex head screws". I just did my column and I think those were actually large Phillips machine screws if I can remember 6 months ago. Maybe you forgot those? If I'm right, you should be able to see 4 holes. If I'm wrong... it won't be the first time.

Thx for your reply. There are 3 sections on your steering column. The middle one is mounted on the column with the 4 screws you mentioned.

However the lower section/housing isn't screwed on. I have sandblasted all parts and haven't had the column when it was assembled.

That does not look like any 72 column I have ever worked on. The switch should be in the top and not the bottom.

Perhaps it's a 70's column. However the question remains the same...
