My 15 year old granddaughter has always been interested in cars and racing. Yesterday she assembled her Dads race 727. Start to finish except the valve body as we ran out of time. She learned what components were held by the various clutches and bands. Learned about planetary gears and how each gear came to be. Learned about how the hydraulics applied each component. She swapped the tail shaft bushing, built up the clutch packs with new seals and set clearance. Torqued everything to spec. Funny the only thing she had trouble with? Slipping in the accumulator piston. We had a great time.

And she officially knows more about transmissions than me. I'm glad you didn't start her out on something complicated!

Very cool. Keep the tradition going. My Daughter once showed interest and even a surprise to me she told me during her high school years. She signed up for Auto Shop. She told me she was going to be driving soon and should know something about cars. Now graduated, married, working part time and one Grand Daughter so far, she doesn't really care about it anymore since raising a family now. Now I will have to continue to get the grand kids involved as well.

That's great, Doug. You can't trade that bonding time for anything. She will remember this for the rest of her life. Good going, both of you.

Awesome, I bet the smile on your face was bigger than hers.

Cool beans!! Thought my youngest was going to be a car freak....she likes cars but wants someone else to do the work.

I do believe, on that pic with the press, she’s putting in the snap ring on clutch spring retainer. Always a pain with not much room to work.

Excellent work...she knows more about transmission assembly than I do too. :)

WOW Doug! And all I can do is set them on the nose of cars.... hopefully I last long enough to change that like YOU!
