727 Case cleaning

How would one clean a very grimy 727 case? Its out of a car, looks to have 40+ years of dirt and grime all over it. Thanks.

Putty knife, placed a big pan under it to catch the solvent, and scrubbed with a parts cleaner brush. Pressure washer would work too. I sealed up the line fittings plus the front and rear shafts. Have fun!

If it's getting rebuilt soon I just plug the holes and pressure wash them
