I've searched some the old threads on this subject only to find the links no longer work. Does anyone have a link to find out what this means

Standard 727, not hipo, on a 2-bbl 400, 1974 or 75 model year, used in both B and C bodies.

4976 is the actual build date code; March 13th, 1975. So obviously yours is for a 1975 model year car.

4062 is the actual unit serial number for that day.

Thank you very much, it's not heartbreaking. I just like to know what I have.
 
It's a good vintage, big front bearing (bushing) for the drum. More desirable valve body type. You could easily build it into a monster lol.

That's the plan,kinda it's not trash to me. Ya gotta know what you're starting with to finish.
