Hello,

I want to buy a trans rebuild kit for one of my 727's. The parts houses ask what year it is? How do I tell what year my trans is? I have 2 one that came out of my 68 charger but was never sure if it was date/car correct? I have another that came out of a 78 Monoco police car. My questions are....
How do I figure out the date of the trans for the kit?
Is there any advantage between different year 727's?
This charger will be set up for street / strip application.

Any info would be helpful.

Thanks, Mike

The 78 model is the better of the two in terms of updates and lube flow, you should be able to get the "PK" number off the side of the trans along the top of the pan rail on the drivers side and do an internet search of the number or post it here so someone can I.D. it from that.

That worked awesome...

Greg, This is what I found out...
PK 4028425 is out of a 76-77 440 hi performance I saw the PK means it was built in the Kokomo Plant.

2892031 is out of a 67-68 Dodge 383 4bbl. Which would lead me to believe this is the original trans out of the charger.
Thanks again Greg!

Still undecided on which trans to use... I will put a transgo stage 2 kit in the one I pick. That much I know for sure.
