Yes, they are exactly the same length. I had a 65 slip yoke Poly trans (small block) and bought a 1970 E body trans, and though people told me I would need a new driveshaft, they were both exactly the same length. I still have the '70 and the length from bell housing to tailshaft housing edge is 35-1/4 inches. The output shaft extends slightly over an inch.
When I swapped, I had to get a Schumacher (engine-swaps.com) conversion trans mount and my original slip yoke would not work in the 1970 trans, so I had to get a new one (which was fine, I got one with a 1350 joint). Other than that, the only other issue you will have is that one bolt on the driver side bellhousing won't line up. The Poly trans bell housing is symmetrical, whereas the LA bellhousing pattern is different where that one bolt is - the lower bolt is closer to the the locating pin on the driver's side. We actually drilled a hole in the Poly engine block and installed a bolt. I used a B&M shifter on the floor once I swapped the transmissions.
