727 neutral start switch leak

Seeking some advice i have an ongoing issue with the neutral switch leaking through the body/terminals.
In last 12 months i have put 3 new units in and now leaking again. Have cleaned up and definitely confirmed each time as it tends to run down and around to make it seem like pan gasket.
Is it possible to do something wrong when installing to cause failure??

Are you certain it's not the gear selector shaft?
They are close to each other.

Fluid leaks can be a hassle to identify where they are actually coming from; having installed a couple of switches would seem that it isn't the switch there are a number of areas nearby where a leak could be coming from as Don posted. Assume you've cleaned the area good with some MS and been watching this? Check the threaded bore to ensure it's in good shape, the switch needs a smooth mar-free surface to seal the o-ring and torqued properly as you likely know. Messed up threads or bore may not take a seal...

Always look very very carefully up higher to rule out other issues as Don said. Are you changing the seal each time? Look carefully at the threads on the case...if they are bad or the case is cracking there, you may find your answer. Maybe a very light coat of grey silicone gasket maker on the threads. If all of the above looks good, buy from a different supplier and try again. I think A&A may have some OEM Chrysler ones listed still.

Did you get a seal with the switches? I had replace Neutral safety switch it is 70 coronet and the seal did not come with it. Are use the old one. Oops. I had to replace the neutral safety switch on a 70 coronet. At that time Mancini’s sold the seals separately.
I had replaced it with the old seal and I lucked out.The seal is metal with rubber or neoprene Adhered to it.

So you can actually see the fluid running from the switch to the pan gasket?

Had the same issue with leaking on a new one and the switch didn't operate as well. Found a good used one from a transmission rebuilder. Solved both problems.

As mentioned by another member make sure it's not the manual shift seal or throttle shaft seal. simply wad a bunch of paper towel under the shift lever let sit overnight and see if it absorbs any trans fluid.
