727 torqueflite oil capacity

Depends on the converter and pan you use.I usaually dump in 5 qts then go off the stick:tongue8:

Its an 11" converter with the tranny from a charger which is stock, ill do what you did, im sure that will be near enough the same. cheers mate
 
Hemi Itis - what are those larger diameter red colored cylinders on your oil pick up lines?
Some type of pre filters?
 
Those are pre-filters.They would keep ANY large pieces from getting into the oil pump and jamming the pump rotors that would break the drive shaft and also mess up the pump housing.These filters in conjunction with a NON bypass oil filter will keep ALL contamination out of the oil system in the event of a roller lifter failure or anything that causes contamination to wash down into the oil pan.Guess how much it cost me to figure that one out:eusa_boohoo:

as per 73 chassis service manual:

oil capacity for 727 with standard torque converter is 16pts or 8 quarts, with HP 10 3/4" converter its 13 1/2 pts or 6.75 quarts
