hello. Does anyone know if there is 2 different 727 trannys one for big and one for small block.. I thought the 727 was interchangeable but the guy working on my motor said i bought a stall for a small block 727 not for a big block. I thought they were one in he same. Am i wrong?

No difference in converter. The bellhousing is different between big and small block. Maybe you were sent a converter for a 904

He might be talking about the flex plate bolt pattern. There is a big pattern and a small one.

Yes, there is a 727 for small block that is different than a 904. Then there's the standard big block 727.

If memory serves-- there was a small -block 727 meant for taxi-cabs in the 60's-70's. It would not interchange with a big-block.

All 1967 and up newer non lockup converters will interchange. Some have off set balance weights which need to be added or removed to maintain proper engine balance. A 66 and earlier has a different spline count. They can be converted to the later spline easily by replacing the input shaft and pump. What year is the trans? Did the convertor come from a lock-up trans? The bolt pattern at the flexplate must match the converter.
