Hi Guys,
Making progress on my 63 Dodge and came upon this problem. The car is a mongrel in that I bought it in a semi finished state. Engine, 1970, 440, 1965 rearend etc.
The park function on the push button shifter isn`t right. The lever seems to get really tight before the lever moves in a full swing away from the park position. I took the shifter mechanism loose from the dash so I can watch the operation and can see where the cable is not making full travel as the park lever makes it`s swing. The cable gets really tight before the complete lever swing.
Doing some internet searching I saw where Imperial Services offers replacement park cables for both Dodge and Plymouth 727`s with different part numbers. It`s entirely possible I have Dodge cables and a Plymouth trans. Does anyone know how to ID trans to see if it is Dodge or Ply?
Anyone else ever run into this problem? Any advise?
I will call Imperial tomorrow, but really like hands to hear from on experienced guys.
