I am ready to start in the interior of my 73 Satellite. I am not real picky about exact original look. All the interior needs to be recovered, seats , door panels, etc.
Should I buy seat covers and if so from where, who has the best ones.
Or should I just let the Upholstery shop make them , original style, since they will need to recover the door panels anyway.

Any suggestions are appreciated, especially for vendor if buying seat covers to have installed.

Thanks.

It all depends on how much you want to spend. If you want a real nice interior and not on a budget, I recommend Legendary Auto Interiors, I got my door panels and new seat covers from them. Its all top notch stuff and the most accurate reproductions I could find. Material is correct weight, color, grain pattern and stitching.

If you find good used door panels you can always spray them with a product like SEM. Seat covers really stick out if they are not the factory pattern. What would a custom cover cost you vs a reproduction cover? You can also try RT Specialties, he had a bunch of seat covers that he got in a buy out a few years ago but I have no idea if he has any left. They weren't Legendary covers, think one step below.

Some things you are just going to have to bite the bullet on, but at least you have decent aftermarket support.

Yes I agree as well. Go with factory correct pattern seat covers. Nothing worse than seeing your buckets with a homemade pattern/design even though if the work quality is good. And especially if you don't have to redo the rear seats you want your front seats to match.

Don't cheap out on the interior! After paint that is what gets looked at ! I bought cheap upholstery once ! Waisted my money I just threw them away ! They were utter garbage looked correct but fit was not there! Buy legendary you'll be happy with the outcome!
I use upholstery shops to redone door panel s as I hate the foo wood so I get it redone without they turn out sweet!

You can probably install both of the rear covers and the front bottoms yourself.

I paid a local upholstery gut $45 to install the front backs.

Classic industries usually has two 20% off sales per year, which is a great time to buy $1000 of Legendary seat covers!

...and those cheapies without the buttons look terrible as well.

the quality looks OK, but the lack of buttons screams "I cheaped out"
