I am in process of putting my heater box back together. I have a 71 charger but it appears it came with a 73 charger heater box.

Some of the gates came with no gaskets so im not sure where they are supposed to be go back on.

i purchased the gasket kit from detroit muscle but figure out one area of the heater box.

please see attached picture.'

theres 2 gates to this part of the box. is there a gasket placed on each side of both gates?

I rebuilt my 73 Charger heater box about 2 years ago, also used the Detroit Muscle Technologies kit. If I recall, the foams went on both sides of the doors. The one in the picture I believe is the diverter door for floor heat or defroster.
The door with the plastic piece riveted on is the heat on/off door. It has foam glued to both sides.
Hope that helps you some.

heya thanks for reply

the plastic rivetted door i figured out with the double gasket

in the picture I sent theres 2 gates to that part of it

so both those gates need the gasket applied to both sides?

the door with plastic on one side i understand has gasket on both sides im ok with that

thanks

If velrob is asking about the gate for defrost/heat then he might be talking about the style that has a rectangular door with a smaller curved door behind it. In other words, there are actually two metal doors tied together about an inch or two apart. In that case, the smaller (curved) divert piece that attaches behind the larger rectangular piece does not use foam. I just rebuilt my box yesterday, which was a non-A/C 1972 Plymouth Satellite Sebring Plus.

Thanks for the guide.

I was wondering if the foam was supposed to sandwich the metal doors or not. I'm pretty sure they were only foamed on one side originally (only glue residue on one side)

Both control doors for heat/no heat and defrost/heater use foam on both sides of the doors like a sandwich. This is clearly explained in the DMT instruction sheet and obvious by the included foam cut-outs (I'm not sure what door(s) SureGrip is referring to).
