What should I do here?
Both sides are like this.

a) keep grinding and get as much rust as possible, the coat w/Eastwood (or other) and then use bondiglass
b) replace roof
c) put full coverage on the car and burn the garage down (kidding)

IMO,i would find another charger that has a better roof then yours and try and put a different skin on.that would seem to be the best way.

Our roof in that area is good shape the entire roof is good one dent above rear window. It depends on what your plans for the car are or if it is truly a car worth money when done, ours was a 318 no nuthin charger project with a 440/727 combo that came with it has some rust issues, motor machine work has been completed just have to assemble it. My son purchased the car for a father son project but it's mostly been myself [he's in college ] his finances are slim so it's been slow progress plus he's loosing intrest in it i think, he has mentioned several times in selling it. I'm taking my time to see what he wants to do so he don't have too much invested if he decides to sell it so i can get to some of my other projects. If it were my roof on my car rust preventive and bondo then vinyl top to cover it up,if it's a highly optioned car replace the roof [my opinion don't hate some of us don't have lots of cash].

Actually looks like it could be patched, from the photo.

The 73 I just got has the areas in back of the rear side windows patched.
Someone did a respectable job. Especially for an area with so many curves.

Sometimes having a factory vinyl top is a good thing.

The 73/74 SE top is one of the very few vinyl tops I actually like better than a painted metal roof on the same car.
