Hey guys I'm going to look at a 73 roadrunner this weekend to purchase which I've been told is all original. In the pic you can see a key hole in the front drivers side fender which the owner says is the original factory installed alarm system. I have never seen this in any other pics does anyone know if this is a true factory option. Thank you also if there are other things I should look for when looking at the car feel free to tell me.

Those alarms with the external key were popular in the 70s/80s, but I don't think they were factory.
Dealer installed, or contracted maybe.
I'm sure someone will correct me if I'm wrong.

no such factory option in 1973. installed later by someone or a dealer

If its possible i would take someone who knows what all original would involve to check things out with it, ive never heard of this from the factory or seen one before. All original can take up a lot.. Good luck..

I don't know about the alarm.
It's not easy, but I suggest checking the wiring under the dash. on my 73 RR, I had to replace the big red and black wires because they had insulation burned off. Not a show-stopper though, just something to check.
Good luck!

That key in the fender was a dealer installed item yes its after market its supposed to kill the power to the key if I'm not mistaken original no but probably installed before or by first owner
