Both rockauto.com, and advance auto parts have the heater valves, for about the same price- $50.
Can't help with cable, but a lawn mower throttle cable might could be rigged up to work if nothing else, or maybe one from a later model car.

are they correcct w 1/2"inch nipple on top inlet n 5/8 return?
