74 Charger SE orange, yellow, pink wire connector?

Power windows, would have connected the left rear window switch if so equipped. SE? Correct me if I’m wrong, ’74 Charger SE, fixed rear windows? Connector would be left empty.

Power window feed would have a have a 12/14ga red wire running through the plug, and most likely a black or dark blue for the ground. The orange/pink/yellow wiring is almost always some sort of lighting.

Well after looking at the diagram a bit closer and the picture with the plug I think I will stand by my earlier statement as a connector for console lighting The pic shows a pink, yellow and orange where as the wiring schematic shows a yellow, orange and red, red being the main power for a power window.

He said the wire colors were orange, yellow, and pink. Location is where it would pass through to the console is about in the right location. Orange would be shift light, yellow would be switched ground for the consoles interior lights and pink would be 12 volt feed for the consoles interior light. Window theory is close but I do not believe it to be correct. Quick test for the poster would be to test the orange and see if it works with the headlights on and is dim able. Second would be to see if the pink is hot which it would be if his dome lights are working.

The ’71-74 console has no interior lighting at all, or any other lighting for that matter. Only the shift selector back lighting on automatics. This lamp is powered from a single orange wire running over to the passenger side kick panel. Nowhere near the pictured driver’s side sill location.

Original red wires can fad over time and be mistaken for pink.

I agree. I do not have a manual so there is little I can compare it to.

now I’m thinking… isn’t dangerous to keep a free plug hanging around being MALE and energized? LOL.

ON a side note, The master 74 diagram shows a diff harness for 2 or 4 windows setup... which sound logic because the driver master switch changes. So, it's kinda weird a 74 SE with two power windows will get a rear windows setup, which could be valid for those 73 SEs with rear hardtop windows option

( I hope this diagram will show up correctly for you, since is wider than higher, its a capture of 3 pages matched together of the master diagram )

Thinking then... the power window setup was an upgrade for your car? or harness replaced somehow or for some reason?

Just what console lighting would that be in ‘74? There wasn’t any console lighting in ’71-74. As I mentioned in post #8, the only possible light is the console shift auto gear selector backlighting and it is powered via a single orange wire routed to the passenger side kick panel. The connector pictured is perfectly consistent, with the configuration, wire size, and location, with a factory 4-motor power window supplemental wiring harness. Have done several factory power window retrofits recently, same connector in the same location.

I do agree with Nacho, I would expect that a factory installed 2-motor power window harness (if that’s the case here) would be different, not having this connector. Could have come from another car or retrofitted after the fact.

Again, I have boxes of original wire harness where some red wires have faded to pink, pretty common.
