742 differential and green bearings

Does the thrust pin in the center of the differential need to come out when using green bearings?
 
Acording to Dr Diff you can run them both ways.I would e-mail him to confirm to be sure.
 
I like removing them.....unless you can confirm that the axle ends are not tight against the pin. I think that's one of the reasons so many seem to have problems with the Greens not lasting for very long.

Agreed. I removed it when I made 'the switch' back in '18 and have had zero issues....plenty of rough miles since then. And by rough I mean FUN!
 
Be sure to save it if you decide later to go back to factory style bearings or list it for sale or its measurements for those trying to find one.
 
If you have the drop out pig,out,yes I would remove them.
