As part of my downsizing plan, I am having to start making the hard choices of which ones to sell. This has led to the decision to sell my Little Red Express truck that I have owned since 1993. It's a 78 which is the most desirable year that they were built. It is one of 2188 built. They were the fastest American production vehicle built in 1978. It is one of only 185 built with air conditioning and is the rarest combination of all being red with red interior, with the factory tachometer and tuff wheel steering wheel. It has the E58 Police spec engine with a 68 spec 340 camshaft, double roller timing chain and 800 CFM Thermoquad Fireball carb. It has a Loadflight 727 automatic transmission. It has new exhaust from the manifolds to the tips. The truck is very solid with only minor rust on the bottom of the doors. I have two NOS doors for the truck. I have brand new oak wood for the side of the bed and tailgate. I have two sets of Little Red Express truck chrome wheels, and 4 of the original tires that came on these trucks, three are in very good condition, one has some wear on the tread. I have four new center caps and a replacement windshield. I had the truck running last weekend, but I need to put fresh gas in the tank to make it yard drive. I plan on doing more work on it this coming weekend. It has great patina if that's your thing or restore it back to as new condition. The truck will be sold with a current registration and bill of sale in my name,as Rhode Island does not title vehicles over 10 years old. This paperwork is sufficient to apply for a title in your state if necessary. Asking $13,500 for the truck with all the parts I have for it included. Send me a private message if interested.

More pics. Top of cab above the windshield is rust free, this is a common rust area on these trucks. Rear fenders and chrome steps are clean and solid.

Cab corners and rockers are very solid,no rot. There is some dirt and green algae stuff on them, but no rot or bubbles of any kind. The factory seam sealer between the cab corners and the rockers is cracked and some of it has fallen off, but the corners and rockers are very solid. The only rust bubbles are on the front corners of the doors, a fairly easy repair, but two NOS doors are included with the truck.

Fenders are clean and rust free. That is a reflection of the ground in the second picture, not rust.

I got the bed cleaned out and the wood floor is still very solid. The bed is very solid with only two minor rust spots on the rear corners just below where the tailgate bolts on. One is a small nickel sized spot, the other is the size of a quarter. Other than that the bed is rust free.

The two small spots on the bed. The truck is 95 percent solid,I doubt that a more solid one can be bought in this price range.

What’s the history on it? Has it been sitting outside long?

I bought it in 1993. It has been outside for about 5 years. the truck is pretty solid. I doubt a more solid example of a 78 LRT can be bought in this price range there days.

I'm trying to understand this pic-

Is the trim off the pinch weld?

Is the trim off the pinch weld?
These trucks are prone to rust and rot in the rain gutter above the windshield. This truck has no rust or rot there. The trim is not off the pinch weld. I will get a picture of the trim tomorrow.

Yes, mine is rusted terribly there.

I just see two distinct lines in that pic.
Trying to figure out what I'm looking at.

You're not planning on driving roll-back to FL any time soon, are you?
