Hello all, I am new to this so pardon me if I did something wrong! I was wondering if the rear end from a 68, 69 CHrysler New Yorker will fit into my 1969 charger. thanks !
Chris

Anything will fit anything given unlimited time and/or money and/or skills. Your Charger is a B body, and a New Yorker is the larger C body. According to one website I checked, your car's axle is 44 inches between the centers of the spring perches and 59.2 wide, and the New Yorker axle is 47.3 inches and 63.4. It will take relocating of the springs on the car outwards or moving the spring perches on the axle inwards in order to get it to mount up. That would mean cutting and welding. If you did the fabrication and put it under there, you would have a limited selection of wheels and tires that wouldn't rub the outer fender since the New Yorker axle is wider. How much time/money/skill do you have? Now, if you are talking just the removable center section that has the U-joint in front and bolts to the axle housing, it should be an easy change.

Welcome. What Greg said is correct. It's not a direct bolt in swap. The good thing is that 8.75 B body rears are usually easy and relatively cheap to buy. Check the for sale section, and place an ad in the WANTED section. I know one will turn up.

Have also seen several on racingjunk.com lately as well.

thank you so much fellas.. I DEF do not want to start cutting and welding anything.. I just wanted to make sure before I bought this thing it would work, and it obviously does NOT! My car was a 318 car, so from what I have gathered, that rear that came in the car is pretty crappy, and the 440 I am going to put in the car may not do too well with that rear, thats why I want to move up the 8 3/4. Plus, I would like to put a posi in it. Does this all sound correct? Pardon my not knowing what the hell is exactly going on.. thanks guys
Chris

ALSO, the K frame that came with the 318 will still hold the 440 yes? I thought the ones for all of the V8 were the same, except the hemi. Then the V6 had its own.

K frame will work for all v8's with the exception of the HEMI. The slant 6 is also another k frame, but lets not worry about that now. What you have will work fine for the 440.

Where in New York are you? I may have a b-body 8 3/4 rear end for sale pretty soon. No gears, just the housing with axles and backing plates.

hey hey, I am on long island.. nassau county... what are you looking to get for that rear? You need any charger parts? I have a bunch of things I am not using.. I would LOVE to swap for some stuff...

I am sure you have already checked, but make sure you dont already have an 8 3/4 rear end, My satellite is an original 318 car and came out with the 8 3/4 rear.

I have a 70 Road Runner. I could use a correct bellhousing or bench seat for the car just to have them in case, but you are a long way from Cleveland!
