I've always had green bearings so this is a little different for me. On my Belvedere it is still using the tapered axle bearings. I have been looking for the gaskets that go on the flanges for the bearing retainers. The parts stores tell me they dont exist and just use silicone.

Survey says?

The parts stores are full of dodo, but I always use high temp silicone because it lasts longer. The originals are white foam. They suck.

Alright sounds good, as far as the ebarings go just pack them with a good high quality grease?

i got all my gaskets at napa including the metal ones i havent had them leak yet.......

What keeps the bearing grease from coming out around the axle? Is there an outter seal on the axle? I just swapped diffs and replaced all the seals including the foam one, packed the bearings and now have wheel bearing grease coming out around the center of the axle flange. What did I miss?

Yes, there are two seals, but the one you are having problems with is a little skinny seal that is in the axle retainer plate. I doubt you can get the axle bearings off without destroying them so plan on getting new bearings (Timken set 7) and of course the seals. And you are correct, the axle bearings are packed with wheel bearing grease.

Hey guys,I'm not trying to steal this thread.I was actually going to post a new one but seen this and thought I would ask here.I just had green bearings installed on some axles and I'm not sure if I should run any axle tube seals to keep the diff grease in or not.It is going on a street car that will be driven ALOT.The 4 wheel power disc brakes are ordered but not in yet so I have some time before I have to slide the axles in it.

The Greens are supposed to be sealed from rear end oil.....just like the stock Timkens are.

theres an inner seal in the tubes that keeps the rear end oil in the tubes. Looks like a rubber donut. Mancini racing sells all the parts and speak mopar.

Both inner and outer seals are lip seals. The outer is smaller.....

axle.jpg?i used these

That pic doesn't show the factory outer lip seal......that is if you are using the factor setup. The Green bearing setup does not require it....

ok thats the diff. I always go green and aftermarket axles. Mancini has the others in yukon brand.
