I am going to start collectiong parts to do a big block swap in my 74 runner clone. I have a 8.25 rear now. What years and makes of B body rears will be a direct bolt in?
Thanks
AL

The below dimensions (year, body, spring perch to spring perch, flange to flange) are for the different 8 3/4 rears. Looks like just 71-74 will bolt in with no issues.
67 - 72 A body 43.02" 55.60"
62 - 70 B body 44.00" 59.20"
71 - 74 B body 47.30" 62.00"
71 - 74 B body Station Wagon 47.3" 63.4"

Also the springs angled differently on those B bodies (affects the perches somewhat). If I remember correctly, B's through 70 were pretty even front to rear, B's 71 up the rear was more narrow than the front, and E's were narrow in the front.

I think that's right

73-74 B-Body will be a dirrect bolt-in without changing anything but they are hard to find. Look for factory BB and 340-360HP cars as well as possibly taxicabs/police cars as they sometimes were equipped with heavy duty suspensions and the 8.75 rearends.

One more quick question just to be sure.
71 - 74 B body 47.30" 62.00"
The 47.30" is that to center of the perches?
I assume the 62" is to the backing plates and not the total lengh with the drums.
Thanks again.
