I assume the 'slot' on the transmission side points downward? Also assume no gasket goes on it....?

Edit, never mind on the slot, I see how it goes :D

Seems like it should have a gasket though.....or just some sealer at least?

Yes they need a gasket, how bad of a leak are you searching for? And they have a seal inside for the input shaft.

I'm putting one together.....and don't have much experience with 4 speeds as far as assembly goes. Just know how to row them when the right parts are present. :D Thanks!
There should be a gasket.
Thanks. Anything wrong with using a sealant like RTV? I can make a gasket....1/16"?

The retainer holds the bearing in place, so if you make the gasket too thick it will allow the bearing to move in and out. I'd measure it up and make the gasket as thin as possible to keep the movement to a minimum.

The gasket is very thin - but check you do not bind the front bearing.
Sealer on the bolt threads.

Brewers will fix you up on all of that. I just put a gasket and front seal, rear seal, pilot bushing, dowel pins, in mine. No leaks now. Well worth using Brewers.

Thanks!! And I'll contact Brewers....and doing that is easier than making a gasket.
