'79 was the last year for the big block Trans Am and I knew a guy who bought a silver one & kept it in the wrapper. He once brought it to a local Pontiac meet and was surprised to see a couple others there as well. Apparently, many others had the same idea thinking they were sitting on gold, but they would have been better off putting their money in the market. The guy I know sold his about 15 years ago.

Stellantis was doing it for Federal dollars
& for getting in good with the powers to be at the moment...
That CEO dude running MoPar/CDJR ruining it was fired, now the Hemi is coming back
new CEO guy is a car guy/Hemi or SRT guy & the EV crap is shelved for the most part,
it was/is still a loser... maybe 5% of the market, not a smart investment or move...

I've owned every 5 year edition + some, of almost every anniversary years of the Trans Ams
most weren't actual *annv. editions though.
wish I had owned an org. 69, even back when I was buying that stuff way too
expensive in comparison to other cars
1967 Firebird 400
1968 Firebird 400 4 speed 12 bolt Posi, the precurser to the Ram Air I
1970 Formula 400 4 speed 12 bolt Posi, Ram Air III
1970 T/A 400 Ram Air III, freaken' great car blue with white stripes
73 T/A SD 455 4 speed, way under rated HP, torque monster, tire fryer
*5th 1974 (would be) T/A SD 455 last year of SD (not any annv. edition ? I ever seen or knew of)
1979 T/A 403 Olds (heavy turd, did handle well for what it was)
it was a special gold version, sort of like the Smokey & Banidt version but in gold & not anniv. edit.
1984 T/A 5.7ltr turd brown (turned into a S/C 8.90 & S/E 7.90 racecar) not an anniv. edition either
1987 T/A white (got from the body shop at Concord Pontiac) I turned into a Pro-Gas 8.50
& dual purpose T/S car in 1988, 7.50 car, dabbled in S/E 7.90 et class
*20th 1989 3.8ltr Buick 274hp turbo v6 (white & gold pinstriped anniv. edition)
1992 T/A SLP Firehawk red (I don't like red) 315hp 5.7ltr
*25th 1994 (one of my favorites) LT1 315hp SLP 5.7ltr 25th anniv. edition,
white with blue stripes & white wheels with blue accents, blue stripes on seats/white interior
97 Formula GT base model I gutted it turned into a racecar, T/S 7.50 @ 175-80 drag car
*30th 1999 Blue with white stripe Blue interior 1st of the LS cars, SLP Firehawk,
pretty ahead of their time/rare, it drove well (anniv. edition)
2000 T/A WS6 all triple black SLP Firehawk LS 6 speed, great cars
2002 T/A WS6 maroon SLP Firehawk LS 345hp 6 speed, great cars, fast & handled or stopped really well

you can say I had a "huge" Pontiac T/A Problem, 15 Firebirds, 11 of them T/As &/or Firehawks
(my step dad was a diehard Pontiac Guy, I blame him)
as much as I have a MoPar problem too
I was working for a bunch of dealership, I got 1st pick a lot
a lot were T/As & SLP Firehawks versions, a couple Formulas, a few were *Anniv. versions,
SLP Firehawks were worth a lil' more back then, sort of rare too
more power, different computer tune, better bigger brakes
& better handling/bigger sway bars front & rear, better shocks, better spoilers, front & rear,
some even had a rollbar installed & a harnesses from SLP 'Street Legal Performance',
most had about a 30-45 hp bump over the stock Pontiacs/TAs, w/Chevy engines :poke:

Whatever they do they need to make reliable models that are affordable for the "average Joe" and his family.
