A 1979 Jeep CJ7. 360 V8, quadratrac
transfercase.
Beautiful weather with a break in the
heat just after a thunderstorm.
Jumped in the Jeep and hit just some
simple existing dirt tracks.
Tumble weeds (green) growing down
the center. I didn't make it 100 yds
down the chosen path.
The Jeep slowly strained against any
power applied.
Shut it down and crawled underneath.
Two balls of weeds (wrapped around
both driveshafts) stopped forward
momentum.
Looking back down the path showed
weeds being plucked from their roots.
Walked a couple miles from the house
for a screwdriver to pry the weeds
from the driveshafts.

I think I would have tried backing up for a bit. But mainly because I am too lazy to walk that far for a screwdriver. Beer maybe.

They were wound tight enough where
backing up would have done no good.
The Jeep couldn't move.
The beer was cold, and I enjoy a good
walk....

As a kid I got caught out on a level B road in a old F85 olds, flat rear tire. Had the tire iron and spare but no freaking jack.
Had to round up some rocks and stack/ wedge under the axle .
Busted the nuts loose then started digging lol. I never ran without a jack again.
Bet you will have a few tools from now on

That happened to me on a logging road when I borrowed my brother's 63 Ford pickup to take a buddy bow hunting back in my twenties. We propped a log across the drainage ditch on the side of the road, drove the straight axle onto it, then dug out enough to replace the tire. When I got home, I asked my brother what kind of dumbass carries a spare with no jack. He told me that I had borrowed that jack a month ago and hadn't givern it back to him yet. D'oh!
