If i wanted to check for coolant leaks in my engine before i installed it,could i blank off the hoses to the radiator, blank off one heater hose outlet and put 10 to 15lbs of air pressure into the block to check for leaks???

If everything was assembled correctly, there shouldn't be any problems.

If you insist, you could plug up all of the inlets, pressurized with about 10-12 psi. Use a gauge inline with a shutoff valve, and watch for a pressure drop. No water necessary. Have your exhaust manifold studs installed, with sealer.

Sure. You should mix a soap and water solution and do a bubble check.

I always find it interesting on this site how a simple question is so hard to answer by so many.

Sounds like it should work to me Steve, go for it.

No big conspiracy, just curious as I've never heard this question asked before.

If your going to do it you could cut a bicycle tube and clamp each end to the radiator hose inlet and outlet. That way you have a simple way to add the air.

Thanks guys!!! Why im doing it is im trying my best to eliminate any problems before they occur. I put this motor together and im getting cold feet about it. Twenty years ago id wouldnt even give it a second thought
