I just recently acquired an a833 tranny for minimal money. From the numbers it appears to have come from a 68 Dart with a 340. Coming from an a body it has the short tailshaft. Is there any way I can still use it in my 69 Satellite or should I just sell it or trade it for one with the longer tailshaft. Apologies if this is a dumb question but this is my first foray into mopar and restoring one lol.

You could sell it or you could get the tail shaft housing (I have one) and get the longer output shaft and transfer the cluster from the short to the long and your in business.

Thanks guys! Yea I've been doing some research so I can come up with a plan. I've got a bit before the car is ready for motor and tranny.

If it would fit in the car you could just get a longer driveshaft. Ron

You can get an output shaft, tail housing and a gasket kit and convert it to a B body tranny in about three hours. Tools required: A press, bearing splitter and some tube fixturing to deal with the output shaft bearing. Snap ring pliers.

I bet there is an a body owner that has a longer A833 in his stash that would be glad to trade you. Just be careful to get one that is not trashed......................MO
