Okay my Mopar friends here’s my problem….the past 3 months I’ve taken just about everything off my 69 Charger that I could to clean and repaint….now I had my four speed tranny out and put on the stock Hurst shifter and bolted it on along with the rods…it shifted 1 to 2 then 3 to 4….I reversed it and it was smooth….put it in neutral and slid the shifter over into reverse….smooth…..Okay I’ve got the tranny back in. spline turns smooth…I don’t have oil in it yet….today I bolted the shifter in along with the rods etc….it went from 1 to 2 into 3 to 4….I tried to go into 2 it won’t go….just 3/4 rod lever goes back and forth….now I can take a crescent wrench and put it on the linkage plates and 1&2…3&4…and reverse all move….now the only thing I did different from my first trial on this shifter is I saw where they were showing a washer on the 1&2 3/4 rod plates….I figure they are about 1/32” thick….now have these washer made the linkage too tight for the shifter to move them freely….I’ve got all of the slide plates in the shifter moving really well…have them greased up and they slide freely….any positive advice on my dilemma will be greatly appreciated….
