Neighborhood kid got an early 2000 Honda Civic running and drivable. Hood support rod had rubbed a hole in the metal line hose crimp and discharged all the gas sometime in the past. Car had set at least ten years with "open" system. I replaced the damaged line and pumped down the system for about 30 minutes and recharged the 134a system. System cooled down instantly and has been working great for a couple months now. I don't think the oil in the system evaporates much on an open system but question is , should I add additional oil at this time or just let it go till it quits or compressor fails. Its doing fine at the moment and the kid is happy.
