Adjutable drag shocks

I know that you are not supposed to use adj. drag shocks for the street. Is it because its dangerous or because they will get ruined? Its probably both. I was wondering because I have about a 20 mile trip to the track and back. Too risky to leave them on? I don't want to have to change them all the time. Can't afford a trailer either. Any insight? Not sure why, I've never heard that... I ran double adjustable Koni's or Strange Eng. shocks & Lamb Struts, for years on the street, also my QA1's on my last 68 RR, I drove to & from the track 12+ miles each way, with the track set up settings, from Rancho Murieta to Sacramento raceway {long trips it was trailered, it also bounces in the trailer also, working the shocks too}, with some cruising occasionally too, no issues... maybe it's because they don't want to warrantee them or something... not really sure why... maybe a wives tale... in the Strange Engineering Overview on Jegs it says double adjustable shocks for racing, street, Pro-Mod... the QA1 Overview says, street-rod, street cars, racecars, autocross, road-race etc. too... maybe we have a "real shock expert" here that can enlighten us/you... It's news to me, but that's nothing new...LOL...

I'd say wear & tare more than likely...
 
I don't know the condition of your streets out there, but after the winters here,(especially this one), we have a lot of potholes. Just wondering if that would affect them or the car itself.
 
we get pot holes too... especially here in the mountains... not sure the reasoning for not driving them on the street or where you heard that... it's a wear issue would be my best wild guess, if it has any merit at all... drive slow if your worried, avoid the pot holes...LOL...

I ran double adjustables on the street for years. No issues and they are still on my car and work fine. Go for it.
 
Never had them before , so I didn't know. I used to have the old 100,000 mile shocks on the front back in the day. That was loads of fun!
 
Even single adjustable drag shocks are ok on the street, just not ideal. Typically they are fixed compression and adjustable rebound with the compression rate being pretty stiff.

The only reason thay say not to ( the manufacture) is due to the handleing . Like a 90/10 front shock can unload you car in a turn or a street condition . Hampering you control of the car. When I had my speed shop we learned this from the manufacture. For street use thay recomend a 50/50 valve rateing and not any kind of split. Thay will hold up on the street just fine as many have seen . Its just the handle difrent.

I run 90/10 Calverts on the front of my Satellite and I drive it 50 miles to the track, most of the roads on the way to the track are very twisty, narrow, and curvy mountain roads and it hasn't been a big deal other than the line of cars wanting to pass me because I'm driving so slow and carefully. But really, it's no big deal.
