I have a 1969 Charger, and since I have had it I have been trying to find a reproduction of the buildsheet.
The major flaw in my slaw is that the fender tag is missing. I have done the following to seek further knowlege - looked through numerous postings of found buildsheets; posted same question on another Dodge fan site; contacted Chrystler Musuem. I have looked up Gavior (sorry spelling not my thing) and have even exchanged some e-mails with him but he just sent me info on how to decode a buildsheet. He always has a backlog and I would hate to pay alot to hear "sorry kid".

The car has been molested in the past so I am not sure if I could trust any serial #'s I may find. I am at the point where I have enough money saved for body work, but I would like to know what the original color was prior to committing to a color. Which leads me to my other question - does anyone know of a website that has a Charge body to test colors on?

Any help would be great. Thanks in advance for any replies.

without a fender tag or build sheet, you are SOL. you can only go by whats there for color on the floor pans or inside the trunk etc, if the car hasn't been blasted. post a pic of any old paint you find . pictures go a long way here.

Original color go to the area under the front fenders, knock some undercoating off. Inside of the trunk lid.
Don't think even Chrysler kept track of options by VIN, at least nowhere publicly available, but there is more than one place to find a broadcast sheet and possibly more than one per vehicle. Check the following:

In the rear seat springs.
Under the carpet.
Taped to the back side or top of the glove box insert.
In the front bucket seat springs.
Inside the bucket seat backs.
In the rear seat back.
Under the package tray.
If you find anything, make sure it matches your VIN, sheets occasionally got swapped.
Good luck, Chango

Also peel back the weatherstripping a little on the trunk lip or doors.

Keep in mind that any pic you find on line may be off. But for your options try the Hamtramick regestry web site to find what was avalable

Thanks for advice, but the whole interior was taken out including the dash. Nothing :(
I am pretty sure it is green, but which shade I am not sure. The thing that scares me is that when i took it to a shop to see what they would charge the guy said it was a Ford Treino color - when it comes to shades of colors I am not good.
What is the "Package Tray"
I really do need to post some pics.

I have gone to Charger Regestry and even contacted the web master, still no luck. I do know it was build in Hamtramick, if I can beleive the VIN plate. I hade one guy say the plate did not have the original rivits/screws in it. I am not sure if my car is a frankenstein car but I get that feeling, along with tight underwear.
I will check out the site - thanks again

I forgot to add that the under belly and inner trunk was sprayed with black coating. SO if there is another place to look on the car for a fender tag it may have been sprayed over.
The trunk has got relegion- its holy. That is why the inner trunk was sprayed over

Unless it was completely stripped and painted in the past... Try prying up the rubber for the windshield seal, there's paint under there. Or remove the wiper motor and take a look. Other hiding places for paint include under the radiator mounting tabs, under the screws that hold the door latch in place, or under the rubber biscuits for the shock mounts.

The 'package tray' is the cardboard covering under the rear window. You could also pull out the back seat and see what's there.

If its that far removed, is it really worth trying to take it back to that state of correctness? If that much stuff is missing, it will cost you a fortune. Just build it how you want it to be.
