Advice Needed

1968 RoadRunner 4 speed car.

Never done this before so thought I would reach out and learn from those that have the experience.

I am in the process of putting the complete interior back together and looking for a sequence/order to do so.

Everything from the pedals, steering column, dash, carpet, electrical, seats...you get the picture. I don't want to install something, only to have to remove it because something else should have been installed 1st.

Both the front windshield and rear glass are removed. Headliner installed.

I have a new wiring harness for the entire car from Year One.

Thoughts? Suggestions?

The link above is very good. Just as a suggestion as it sounds that your already heading in that direction is to have subassemblies already detailed and ready to install as much as possible as units. It is much easier to assemble the dash assembly outside of the car and then install as one whole assembly. Also I have found it good to mock assemblies up to insure that everything is accounted for. Seems to never fail that when you go to install the pedal assembly / steering column support that one of the braces have been misplaced.

82. install radiator & connect hoses

88. set car on the ground
89. install & align door and quarter glass
90. install steering column
91. install carpeting
92. install seat belts
93. install quarter interior trim panels

95. install console (if applicable)

99. install bumper jack


There are many different sequences of assembly possible.
Sometimes I’ll jump from one area to another depending on parts available or other road blocks.
There are cases where the wrong order will give you headaches though!
