After 20 years of off/on racing I finally won one

After racing on/off for around twenty years with a couple of runner ups I finally won one at the Perth Motorplex here in Western Australia.

I won the Nostaglia Western Australian round in US muscle bracket in my dodge 440 sedan over a 68 firebird.
Although my et's were down on the day (my tach broke and I short shifted)
I put together a bunch of 12.74's on a 12.7 dial @ 108mph.

Went 8 rounds without a et outside 12.74-12.78 on 12.7 dial.

So patience finally came through.

Dodge 440 sedan
360/727/9'' 3.9 gears.

Sounds like you used "the force" and it paid off.

Being consistant is definately better than being "as quick as you can" for each run.

I once saw a 30's street rod with a mild 318 run 14.10 every single time and win the open class against high dollar big blocks that could pull the wheels.

BTW NICE car. I even like the look of those with the extra 2 doors.

You guys down under don't seem to have the 4 door stigma thing like the states.
You had factory perfomance 4 door muscle cars in the 60's and 70's, and we diddn't.

Says something interesting about the socio/psyco.....mindset...etc....

I know of a 64 Belvedere that is for sale. It has 4 doors but my father doesn't like the extra doors so he isn't going for it. I showed my wife, told her it could be her new daily driver. It also was a no go.

Yes from the Radiator back incl engine,727,9'' sold the hardtop minus all running gear.

Interesting point ,four door sedans that ''go'' are held in the same view as their two door cousins.Below are couple of photos of brand X's both sell in the six figures and high end at that. Goes to the fact that circuit racing is far more popular than the drags in Australia and the four door sedan are part of the domestic touring car series. So a Car that wins the domestic series are worth more than imported exotics whether these are.Basically factory four door hot rods that ''race on Sunday buy on Monday'' .
