I have a 1964 Dodge Polara 500 with the 383 four barrel. My question is, which type of air cleaner housing am I supposed to have? Mine has a simple round air cleaner housing on it- which the seller claimed is original to the car. But I have also seen several other crusty original cars for sale with this dual snorkel setup. So what is factory correct? Thanks...

Good deal, thanks. I assumed it was correct, but I have seen numerous other 64's with that dual snorkel setup- including one that was chrome plated. As crusty as some of them appeared- they did look original to the engine.

Yea no 64's had snorkels on their air cleaner housings as the ones with snorkels are wrong. It took the little round one as was said. Ron

I'm old and I forget things but didn't the AC equipped cars have a different air cleaner?? I think the AC cars had one that looked like the attached but of course not chrome.View attachment 274049

No, must not be because my 383 car is a factory A/C car and it has the small round air cleaner.

The one with the Chrome lid is 426 ONLY! 1965. Very Rare, I want one, anybody got one?

I'm making my own. I have two single snorkel units. I'll be removing the snorkel and will fill the hole and then have it chromed. Then just modify the base to fit a half inch smaller diameter element and bingo... a street wedge air cleaner clone.

Hope you'll post photos as you do it. I'd like to do the same thing.
