I just recieved my bubble door scoop for my 72 RR. Any help, videos ect. on installing the studs underneath?. Looking for any tips would be greatly appreciated. Thanks

Well, thinking of my '70 airgrabber (similar I'm guessing), then you'd have to tack-weld some threaded rod underneath the hood & space them very, very carefully.

Looks like a pre drill hole then self tap studs

Kinda figured out, but scarey..lol...when I get started I will document the process for future folks trying it out.

On those kind of scoops I drill out the hole in the scoop, over size, insert the coarse end of the stud, then pour in fiberglass resin. Making sure they are straight as it dries. Doesn't take long, just do one at a time. Then I let them set up for a day. Never had an issue.

I don't like the idea of trying to run a stud in the fiberglass, hoping the threads get enough bite to hold so I do it this way and it's bonded 100%.

Fetto , Where did you purchase the door scoop? POPS

That must be the Stinger set-up. I bought that one years back and at the time had a buddy that was a body-man. He spent a bunch of time to make it simulate stock. I tapped all the bosses underneath and screwed in factory studs. After a bunch of hours it came out very nice all painted with Organisol.

That looks great..

Thank you, also note I took the picture before the door was fully closed. It looks high in that picture but that wasn't the case.

Off topic but are you going back with all that vacuum operated stuff or are you going to fab it up electric?

Fab most likely, I have to start looking into best option.

I'd be interested in seeing how you go about it if you decide to go that route and if you don't mind sharing. Good luck with it

I don't know how original you are shooting for?
those bottom 4 bosses get a longer stud (there are 2 different sized studs)for the bellnuts that are used

here is what they used originally
the longer studs and bell nuts went across the rear 4 bosses
and the shorter studs used the captive nuts were used on the rest of it.

the long stud is 1.5 inches long
the short one is 1 inch
