2007 MKZ son got a new car, dumped the MKZ on dad. He had a recall on the airbag and when he left dealer they forgot to reset it. Car is no longer insured. My scanner will not reset it.Battery was unhooked for 24 hours, did not clear light. If I unhook the battery and connect the pos and neg together will it drain and power in the computer ? Will that reset the light? I want to give my daughter the car with no light on it. Thanks

Does your scanner detect any codes? Been awhile but back in my dealer tech days a lot of airbag issues came down to the column clock spring.

The airbag was recalled. Not whatever the other problem is. That's on the customers dime.

The SRS lamp indicates a fault in the system. The fault must be corrected. Possibility, a unconnected crash sensor, or a bad sensor.

Car went to dealership with no light on,they did recall. Son drove off dealership and I guess didnt notice light on. Its my son fault for not turning around but said he had to get to work.

Does the airbag module have its own scan port?

I did Google on it, just need to take it to a shop to clear it. Thanks

Do not operate vehicle with an inoperable SRS. Tow car to qualified facility, or dealer. A life isn't worth a few bucks saved.

Contact the facility, they should tow the car back. How the hell do they release a car with an SRS light on ??
