All right,which way does this go on?

Moving along quite nicely on the rear axle assembly. The pig is in the housing(another thread...) and we're ready to install the backing plates,axles,brakes,etc. Which way does the metal seal that goes between the backing plate and the housing flange go on-raised area towards the housing or the backing plate? I'm a little ways from putting that on(taking a break from wrenchin' for now),but don't want to do it wrong and have to take it all apart again-BTDT. Thanks again!
