Has anyone rewired their alternator direct to there Amp meter to battery?? I had the connection to the amp start to roast.....good thing I was there when it started and got all the power turned off before it got too bad. I have a new engine harness coming but am thinking about wiring the amp direct to avoid overloading the bulkhead connector.

What do you guys think?

Seems like that would be a lot less stable imput power vs. a holding cell like a battery. Maybe i'm confused but how would it show an amp draw? You would be hooking it up like you were gonna read from a voltmeter, which it is obviously not

Good thing you caught it. Definate problem area with mopars. Check the two nuts on the backside of your ammeter, make sure clean and nice and tight. Also check the hot wire connection running through your bulkhead connector. Make sure it is nice and clean on the male/female connections. Either that or eliminate the male/female connection. drill out the bulkhead so you can run the wire through that slot, then solder the connection together. Kind of a common fix/prevention.

good luck
