Have low alternator output at idle, with headlights on it doesn't start showing charge until about 1500 rpm. Off hand, anyone know what was the standard alternator pulley diameter on 68 a std 37 or 46 amp alternator, non a/c 383 car? (Been away from MoPars for a couple decades now, and don't remember it all anymore!) It currently has a 3-1/4" (or so) double belt pulley on it. I know that's not original to this car. Runs in my mind a smaller pulley was used on the single belt 383's. Thanks

Can't get to my alternator at the moment,BUT,all the old one's didn't show a charge at idle(especially with lights on). Just the nature of the beast.

yoo, my billet pulley I think is the same as stock is 2 5/8 on the outside and 1 1/2 on the inside

thans to all! No, this isn't just a not charging at idle, which like one poster said in the nature of the beast, but not untill 1500 rpm is low.

Anyway, the 3 -1/4 just plain looks too big, the 2 - 5/8 would be it then.

Thanks Again!
