Not sure where to post this But I was STOOKED !!
I was at Winters performance friday picking up parts and saw a Flyer he had showing a Dana 60 thats ALUMINUME ! Has press in steel tubes and even the PINION SNUBBER mount !!!
I will try and get more info as My buddy was off. But Man if I would have known thay was doing this I would have bult one for my car !

I am going there this week comeing so I will get more info and a pic of the flyer thay have . I will let you all know what I find out !!

Ok I was at winters Monday and talked to the shop. It is not ready yet for releas as thay are still bulding dif's and so on for it. I was told it will be able to use the original Dana parts ( as of now) No price but I did get the flyer so I will get a snap of it up here later today.

Weight savings is good but how much of a difference will it be? If you could shave off 50 lbs from the 60, then you would be in the 8 3/4 neighborhood. The biggest weight bully is the stock Power Lock unit but if you run a spool, then you will get rid of a substantial amount right there. I think cost will be an issue in this but for those that cost is no object, then it's good. Any time you remove unsprung weight it's good...

don't know how they can charge big dollars for it. aluminium is easier to work with, and it is cheaper than mild steel at least it is here in aus

Supply and demand. Also the cost of tooling and development. I'm sure they had to play around a bit in designing the axle tube fitting into the AL housing. Factor in how many they will sell and the cost per unit just goes up from there.
If only I had the money...

I am keeping in touch with them on this and waiting for a cost. I did talke to them as getting a deal on a number of them . If I can sell some before I take an order on. I am to understand I can get them in any width I need. I am a jobber with them and thay treat me pritty good. Here is there flyer. Also Not thay have the Big ford New style ends on them. winters add.jpg

From what I've read over on Moparts and elsewhere Dana's are only about 35 pounds heavier than an 8 3/4. I haven't weighed them myself but they aren't as heavy as we would think apparently. Perhaps one of the racers will 'weigh' here. I'm guessing an aluminum one would be less or be equal to an 8 3/4 if my research is correct.

Tuff to say but its cool nun the less ! I will tell ya the last dana 60 I pulled was Heavy as crap !!

The last ungainly 8 3/4 chuck I handled was heavy as crap too! The ad looks cool as hell and I'd love to have a Dana 3.54 no matter what they weigh. I should have kept the last one I had.

If any of you lurkers have a ready to run one with 3.54 gears PM me!

Tailhair I have a competely rebuilt Dana 60 for a 67 B Body GTX or Coronet. From my orgininal Hemi car. With 3.54 gears, all new brakes drums and cables. $2700.00

I'm certain it's well worth it but that's way over my budget brother :)

I remember paying $150.00 for a 456 Dana out of a wrecked '70 cuda back in the '70s.
Bolted right up under my '64 Polara 500 like it was made for it. Had the driveshaft modified and yahoo!
Them days are gone :-(
