Capt Jim
I have been a Mopar man since '63 when my grandfather gave me his '56 Dodge Cornet. That car was a beast. As a kid, I abused it (my friends and I would take turns "sticking it" in a snow bank and it was up to the other 3 to push it out, all against the clock. We'd take short cuts from road to road through standing corn fields) but it took everything we threw at it. In '64 I bought my first new Plymouth. A 383/330 four speed Fury. Quick car. Blew the engine in '65 on my way to get my new Sport Fury. Not as quick as the '64. Went to college and made the mistake of letting my brother use it while I was gone. The valves floated from then on. Got married and the petite wife could not drive the stick, the clutch was too heavy. Traded it for a 2 dr hardtop ''63 Chrysler torque-flight with the buttons. Kind of going backwards. After 4 years in the USMC I went back to school and we bought a '70 Barracuda 340. That was in '72. After that I got into sport cars. Triumphs, MGs, Austin Healey, Alfa Romeos.......I ended up restoring classic Alfas for the last 15 years. Nice cars and fun to drive but after my 10th back surgery I could no longer work under the dash, over the fender and under the hood. Sold all of them, all parts and tools. Remodeled the garage and kept looking at an empty, well finished, garage. I decided I needed something to put in it. Nostalgia set in and I started looking for a Mopar. Found one on eBay and made an offer and it was accepted. '67 Plymouth Sport Satellite, one owner CA car with 1600 miles since restoration. Candy Root Beer paint, copper interior, 440 "super super commando", hemi 4 speed, 8.75 with 373 rear end, 2 " Hooker competition headers with 3" exhaust, ported with enlarged valves, 850 cfm Holley on top of street dominator intake, 915 heads, MSD 6AL ignition and Pro Billet Distributor, roller rockers and some kind of cam (fixin to open it up and find out)...I am told 560 - 580 HP. I need to get it on a dyno to be sure. So, now I'm ready to rock and roll. Found an AM FM to help with that. However, as you will see, I need some help on a few things I cannot figure out. I thank all of the forum members for the opportunity to participate anyway I can. Going from the hot 4 cylinders, to the big block 8 is a new learning experience and I need all the help I can get. I thank you.
PS This thing scares me. In Arkansas Ozarks, there is no stretch of road, other than an interstate, where you can find out what it will really do. I think that may be a good thing. When you are over 70, the reaction time is not like it was in '63, but the desire is still there. Sort a like something else I know of.
