This is something I did in my car when I got it. The original AM mono channel did not work so I came up with the idea of making it so I can have a MP3 player for tunes, but keep the stock look. I bought the 2 channel mini amp from amazon and gutted the old radio. I glued the tuner needle in place and mounted the amp in place. The volume knob is wired in to turn amp power on and the tuner knob attaches to the volume control to the map through the clear tubing. The rear of the radio case was cut out and the speaker wires and the input jack are easily accessible.

Just an idea I wanted to share. If you hate it that's OK, but if you love it it only cost $30 to do.

Thats a pretty cool idea ya come up with!

Figured it was worth sharing. After the help that I've received already from the board (shout out to buckneccid). Thought maybe a solution for someone that was looking to do something outside the box. This could be a good idea for anyone that would like to add a MPS system even if they don't want to hack their radio. its small enough to hide under a dash too.
