AMD front frame faulty?

Hi guys replacing complete frame of 70 charger .I find out from some where that AMD front frame is 2" short from where it connects to crossmember.is that true? Did any one had problem with it?ple ple let me know as soon as possible cuz I am on process.

Sorry, can't help easily with the #'s.. that was 2 years ago and mine's a '69 (although they're probably the same). I'm deep into reassembly now. Maybe someone has theirs still open, but if not I can possibly crawl under mine if you don't get some answers.

Thx Budd no problem.if you think it's not difficult can you give me the mesurement from the center of shock tower hole till the firewall both sides please?I think that will be easy one.

How did you weld your shock tower on the frame?plug welding or spot?

There is a point in time were manuals are as important as parts. I think you have reached it. Buy a 1970 Dodge body and frame manual and quite guessing.

What hands on info makes you say this Rick? We could find no major discrepancies from my stock rail to the AMD that we were replacing it with. Was easier to do the entire rail than bother to fix the cracked one I had from dumping the clutch a zillion times each night as a teen. Now if we hadn't been into cross member and floor pan we would have fixed the rail, but with what we were doing it was a no brainer to go replacement.

Impossible to measure the drivers side with booster in the way! That said, both my '69 and '70 are 15" +or- a 1/16" on the passenger side and eyeballing the drivers side appears the same.

Underneath BOTH cars, my original Bird and my repaired Bee are 46 5/8" from rear face of crossmember to the front edge of that rear frame hole.

And as others have said.. BUY A FSM !

I was comparing my old mesurement with original one so I checked now I am going good with mesurement.thanks alot guys for help.

well I've done probably 45 to 50 front frame rails in my day I've used original and amd the original's I've seen them vary up to a 1/4 inch in length. Now the wonderful amd I've seen them pretty close to being spot on and up to 2 inches long or short and one that was actually pretty close to the right length had the k frame bolts in the total wrong location... That was a fun experience shipping 3 of them back and forth like i said before u can't go wrong with original parts.

I checked properly from the tip of the mesurement tape it's showing 46 5/8 if I put the tape inside the frame hole it shows 46 7/8 cus of gap.
