Hi Everyone so i just started doing the rewire to my car after getting a quote for $4K just for labor.
Notes:
1. definitely not plug and play. The instructions are confusing and not well written.
2. For the heating/AC system I had to use part of the old wiring and i am hoping it will work once i get everything hooked up. It should tell you if you are using old wiring and what parts are needed. I tried to take pictures of the old wiring before i took it out and when i figured it out that i still needed the old wiring i tried hooking the wires back up underneath the core but i am afraid that i have mixed up the wires.....for example :In the case of the bottom of the heating core it had two wires and brown and blue one... don't know if i hooked them back up correctly. 2nd pic
3. definitely need a wiring diagram of your specific car to figure this out.

issues: The horn relay is something i still am not able to figure out even from the instructions and wiring diagram (i bought this wiring diagram separately). The AA kit states plug into the horn relay. but i didn't know if this is a old part or i was trying to find where in the car is the actual plug for it. Does anyone have a pic of the horn relay? Resolved...a new Horn relay came with the KIT...didn't realize it.

door jamb switches are a different model. one plug from AA and two clips are the actual ones in the car. I ordered new switches and they were too small for my car.

I also wanted to state that it took me forever to install the engine bulkhead connecter.

I needed help from a friend to align it properly and scraped my arm up pretty good trying to reach back there.

when we rewired a car a few years back we removed the steering column, I know it is more work but it made the install much easier to get the wiring done and with the install of the speedo cluster.

check the factory service manual for steering column remove all. That's is why I said download the manual for your car in the PM I sent you. Just knock the roll pin out of the steering coupler (it is near the bottom of the coupler, pull the column up and out

4 bolts to the firewall seal plate, 3 or 4 bolts to the column and dash frame depending on the car I think 71 has 3 cant remember to be honest.. And the roll pin needs to be knocked out at the steering gear. Also unhook the turn signal connector and linkage if you have a column shift car.

The more I stray into unknown waters with various projects, the MORE I realize that MOST instructions seem to be written for someone that has moderate to extensive experience. It sucks. They should be written as if you are just learning.
I did a garage door opener installation at home a month ago. The directions were shitty, the diagrams were not clear either.
I am 98% finished with an aftermarket heater and A/C setup in my '70 Charger. Same story, the instructions are okay but they leave out some information that would really have made things easier had I known ahead of time.

I did a 1965 F100 complete harness. Everything was sort of cut and dry with two exceptions. They build most of these one harness fits all with chevrolet turn signal switch in mind. Well, what about a 1965 F100 with dealer installed hazard lights that were a separate harness that split the turn signal harness. You will not find this dealer installed item on any f100 site. I dug around the internet and finally found the harness schematic on a mustang site. And the other issue was ignition switch pinout for the old truck. No info out there on that. I got it all sorted but what a pain in the ***.

Update: last night ended up just leaving the steering column in. It is not that bad wiring it with the column in the car. Took me 30 min to an 1 hour at most. Just taking my time.

Worked in the instrument cluster while watching TV took about an hour to crimp the wires another 30 min to attach and organize.

Good note:this kit comes with optional Rallye and after market wiring for electric speedo and new gauges.
It also comes with Floor kit for floor shift middle console and accessories options.

I want to emphasize again that the instructions did not help and were confusing. It should have clear steps 1.2.3.4..but it doesn't.... i'm almost finish the inside under the Dash and now i got the hang of it. Hopefully the engine bay is better...and then the rear and the trunk....

Door jamb Switches: i will try to get new ones but need to look around at different places....the repop seems to be small anyone know the larger size or has ordered the correct fitting ones? I will try yo put up link and pics
