amp gauge

Where do the two connections from the amp gauge go. It was working and took it to a tranny shop today and just noticed it isn't reading anything. I see one of the wires the old owner ran from on side of the gauge is running down by the starter. Could he have connected it there?

Man I wish people would not spice different colour wires. The black from the alt was spliced to a red and hidden behind the brake booster, took forever to find it because of the routing...man oh man.
