1971 SuperBee it was my Dad's old car. He bought it new sold it around 1981 bought it back in the year 1991. But he passed away due to liver cancer before he could get around to fixing it back up. I'm finally getting started really helps having a supporting wife. This will be slow restoration so don't expect constant updates. Just expect a lot of questions.

That Bee looks like a nice project. Sorry to hear about your Dad. Slow is OK if you post a picture every now and then. What part of NC are you from? I was born and raised in Marion.

A few more.

Gonna get Started on replacing the needed sheet metal and get it covered in PPG epoxy primer. I'm thinking about just painting the underbody black. The reason being is I want something that is gonna be easy to touch up for it's going to be driven not set in a garage. I also want something that is gonna stand up to being driven. If anybody has any other suggestions I would like to hear them. K frame already been powder coated will be putting it back together next couple of weeks.
Got a long road ahead of me.

If i were you I would set up a plastic sheet floor and lay down plywood to make life easier. then you will have more time before rust sets in. A great project car you got their.

Sorry to hear about your dad. I bet he had fun with the car. Looks like your off to a good start with it. Take your time, we'll be here waiting for updates when you get 'em.

Great looking car. I know it doesn't seem like it now, but it looks like a fairly decent resto project - compared to some of the other ones being rebuilt on this site.

Also sorry to hear about your father. It's cool that you have the car and are bringing it back though. It looks very complete and solid.

Nice! Was going to say get it Media Blasted, but, I see you did! Get that body in self etch asap, then start cutting out the cancer!

Dad would be proud, nice of you to carry on for him and have something you both could share in, nice too of your wife to be understanding and supportive.

Very cool that you have your dad's car. Great car, too!

Great Start !!! I wish my RR was as solid as your car is. Years ago I had a 71 Charger R/T in triple black. Love the body style. Wish I still had it..............

Sorry to hear about your Dad. I'm sure he would be proud of you !!!!!! It's been a little over a year now since I lost mine.

My wife helps me a lot in the shop too. We are lucky !!!!!

Keep the pictures coming.........................

As far as the under body goes............ I would consider starting out with the black PPG epoxy primer as you mentioned. Then after you paint the car and the under sides are still easily accessible, before you install any parts, spray the entire underneath with a 3M product called "Body Schutz" It covers really well and will provide a little more protection against rock chips etc. It's also black in color.

The reason why I would wait until after the car is painted is because it is much easier to mask off the body along the bottom of the quarter panels, rockers, etc. than it is to go the other way. I normally use a large piece of plastic to cover the majority of the outside. Also don't forget to cover the holes where the body plugs go.

:hatwave:sweet ride sorry to hear about your pops ,you no he`ll be watching every move you make , make him proud :headbang:

cool project, sorry for your loss. Looks like your doing it right and making good progress. Keep the pics coming, progress is progress no matter how small

Im sorry to hear of your dad, Thats one of my favorite late model Dodge's and a Super Bee to boot looks like its in good shape! you'll have a winner when its done.. Good luck to you!

Sorry about your dad. Nice looking project, doesn't look to bad at all.

Should have some pics by the end of the week. Decided to go with fiberglass in the trunk and driver's side floorbord since it wasn't that bad. New metal for the rear quarters and one rocker panel for driver's side. Not sure about the rocker panel came from ebay will compare it when I take it to the body shop.

Great project and a great reason to do it. It will be a great tribute to your Dad and a great project for you to do also. Did I mention its great?? LOL
I'm looking forward to watching your progress.

Well since I'm waiting on getting my car back from the body-shop decided to tear down the engine. Been sitting for a pretty good while so I expect some dirt. PO said he built the engine to the internal specs of a six-pack well we will see. So far all I got is the 346 heads which I will not be reusing all I know about the pistons so far is the number on top L235040. Will do more once I get my front and rear suspension bolted back on and get some more working room.
